1. Our Mission
Recite was built to solve the "shoebox full of receipts" problem. As business owners, freelancers, and independent developers, we know that receipt tracking is the most tedious part of running a business. Most software tools on the market are designed for enterprise teams, introducing complex approval flows, unnecessary features, and expensive subscriptions.
We designed Recite to be the simplest, fastest, and most secure solution for solo founders. Our mission is to take the panic out of tax preparation and audits, so you can spend your time building your business rather than managing your spreadsheets.
We believe bookkeeping should run quietly in the background. With Recite, you upload a receipt, our AI extracts the data instantly, and it matches automatically to your bank transactions. Zero noise, maximum focus.
2. Core Philosophy
Our design decisions are driven by three fundamental principles:
2.1 Absolute Data Ownership
Most SaaS tools store your receipt uploads on proprietary databases, locking you into their platform. Recite uses a polymorphic storage system. When you connect your Google Account, we sync all receipt documents directly to your own Google Drive inside a dedicated Google Drive/Recite/ directory. You own your raw images and files; we only process them to read the data. If you ever leave Recite, you keep all your receipts organized in your own folders.
2.2 Privacy & Transparency
We do not sell your personal data or transaction information. We only use trusted API providers like Google Vision API and advanced language models to perform Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and categorize expenses. Everything is processed temporarily and securely.
2.3 IRS Audit Readiness
Under IRS guidelines, digital receipts are valid proof of purchase if they are highly legible and preserve all transaction metadata. Recite ensures that every scan captures the date, vendor, total, and subtotal/tax line items cleanly, exporting complete CSV reports that match Schedule C tax categories.

Recite is built with modern, reliable, and high-performance technologies to ensure fast data processing and strong security:
- Next.js 15 (App Router): To power a fast, responsive user interface with server-side rendering for security and SEO optimization.
- Supabase PostgreSQL & Drizzle ORM: Providing robust transactional safety and efficient database queries for high-speed dashboards.
- Google Cloud Vision API & Gemini: Leveraging advanced artificial intelligence to handle complex receipt layouts, handwritten totals, and multi-currency formats with high precision.
- Stripe Integration: Offering secure subscription management without ever storing your payment details on our servers.

Recite is developed and maintained by Rivra LLC, an independent software studio focused on creating highly focused utility tools for micro-businesses.
Because we are an independent team, we do not answer to venture capitalists or external stakeholders. Our only goal is to build an application that our customers love and rely on every single month.
